For boaters who primarily need reliable internet while tied up or anchored, though, the Standard 4 X offers full broadband-level performance at a fraction of the cost of Starlink's mobile-rated hardware.

Service Plan Required

Starlink hardware requires an active service plan to get online, selected and activated separately through the Starlink app or at starlink.com/activate. Residential and Roam plans are both compatible with this kit — Residential is intended for use at a single fixed address, while Roam allows use at any location within Starlink's coverage area (still while stationary, not underway). Before purchasing, use the Starlink app to confirm coverage and identify the best install location, since a clear, unobstructed view of the sky is required to maintain a connection.
