Choosing a paddle length
When considering paddle length, a good rule to follow is to choose a paddle that's 30cm or roughly a foot taller than you when holding it upright. Also, make sure to take into account the width of your kayak in addition to your height. The greater the kayak's width, the longer the paddle length needed to reach the water. If you have a sit-on-top kayak and your seat is raised six inches or more above the base, add approximately three inches to your paddle length.
