WEST MARINE All Clear® Offshore Inflatable Life Jacket with Harness: Ultimate Safety and Comfort

Offshore sailing and serious bluewater passage-making demand safety gear that performs without compromise when conditions deteriorate and the stakes are highest. The West Marine All Clear® Offshore Inflatable Life Jacket with Harness is engineered for exactly these conditions — combining a USCG-approved inflatable PFD with an integrated stainless steel sailing harness, high-visibility reflective materials, versatile inflation modes, and the industry-first ALL CLEAR viewing window that lets you confirm your PFD is armed and ready at a glance, without opening the cover or disassembling anything.

This is not a casual day-on-the-bay life jacket. The All Clear® is designed for offshore passage makers, bluewater cruisers, offshore racers, and serious coastal sailors who understand that a PFD is only useful if it's properly armed, properly fitted, and actually worn — and who want a jacket that makes all three as easy and reliable as possible.

The ALL CLEAR Viewing Window — Know Your Status Without Guessing.
The most dangerous life jacket is one you assume is ready but isn't. Inflatable PFDs require a properly seated CO2 cartridge, an intact firing mechanism, and a serviceable bladder to function — and on a conventionally designed jacket, confirming all of this requires opening the cover and physically inspecting the arming mechanism. The All Clear® eliminates that friction entirely with its patent-pending ALL CLEAR viewing window:

  • GREEN indicator visible: Your PFD is properly armed and ready to deploy. Wear it with confidence.
  • RED indicator visible: The arming mechanism needs attention — rearm before going offshore.

This simple, immediate visual status check takes less than two seconds and removes any ambiguity about whether your most critical safety device is ready to save your life. For shorthanded offshore crews, racing sailors checking gear before a watch change, or anyone who wants absolute certainty without fumbling with snap fasteners in the dark, the ALL CLEAR window is a genuinely meaningful safety innovation.

USCG-Approved Type V PFD with Type I Performance.
The All Clear® carries full US Coast Guard approval as a Type V inflatable PFD, with inflated performance equivalent to a Type I offshore life jacket — the highest USCG performance standard, required for offshore and open ocean use. Type I performance means the jacket provides a minimum of 22 lbs. of buoyancy when inflated and is designed to turn an unconscious wearer face-up in the water. For offshore sailing, racing, or any passage-making beyond protected coastal waters, Type I performance is the appropriate standard — and the All Clear® delivers it in a low-profile, packable inflatable form factor that sailors will actually wear all day.

Dual Inflation Modes — Automatic and Manual.
The All Clear® Offshore is configured as an automatic/manual inflatable with a user-selectable mode switch:

  • Automatic/Manual Mode: The standard offshore configuration. The hydrostatic or dissolving pill firing mechanism activates automatically upon water immersion — deploying the bladder without any action required from the wearer. This is the critical capability for man-overboard scenarios where the wearer may be incapacitated, disoriented, or unconscious upon entering the water. Manual inflation via the pull handle remains available as a backup.
  • Manual-Only Mode: Selected by the user when engaging in activities where spray, rain, or wet conditions might trigger premature automatic inflation — dinghy sailing, kayaking alongside, working the foredeck in heavy spray. Switching to manual-only prevents inadvertent inflation while preserving manual deployment capability.

This mode flexibility makes the All Clear® genuinely versatile across a wide range of sailing and water activity conditions — not just offshore passages.

Integrated Stainless Steel Sailing Harness — Tether-Ready, Low-Profile Design.
The integrated harness is not an afterthought or an add-on — it's a purpose-engineered component of the All Clear® system, designed to meet the demands of offshore sailing where tethering to jacklines is standard safety practice. Key harness features include:

  • Stainless Steel Construction: Corrosion-resistant hardware that maintains strength and reliability in the saltwater environment through years of use
  • Lay-Flat Design: The harness lies flat against the jacket when not under load, minimizing bulk and preventing snagging on rigging, lifelines, and hardware during normal movement around the boat
  • 2-Inch Belt and Buckle Closure: Wide webbing distributes harness loads across the torso under tether shock loads; positive buckle closure provides secure attachment confidence
  • Tether Attachment Points: Compatible with standard offshore safety tethers for jackline attachment — the fundamental keep-you-on-the-boat capability for offshore sailing in deteriorating conditions

High-Visibility Reflective Material — Front and Back.
If you're in the water, being found quickly is the difference between a rescue and a tragedy. The All Clear® incorporates high-visibility reflective material on both the front and the back of the jacket, maximizing the chance that a searching vessel's spotlight or a helicopter's searchlight will pick up your position at night or in low-light conditions. Reflective material is an often-overlooked but critically important feature in offshore PFD selection.

Extended Sizing — Fits Up to 65" Chest.
The All Clear® accommodates a wide range of body types with sizing that extends up to a 65-inch chest measurement. Proper fit is fundamental to PFD performance — an improperly fitted life jacket may not keep the wearer's airway clear of the water. Confirm your chest measurement against the sizing guide before purchase and adjust the harness and jacket for a snug, secure fit.

Secure Pull Handle — Clipped In, Snag-Free.
The manual inflation pull handle is secured to the jacket body with a clip that keeps it accessible for quick deployment while preventing it from snagging on rigging, lifelines, jacklines, or other hardware during normal boat handling. A snagged or inadvertently deployed pull handle is a real operational concern on a working sailboat — the All Clear®'s secured handle design directly addresses it.

Reusable and Rearming-Ready.
After inflation — whether from deployment in a real emergency, a training exercise, or an accidental firing — the All Clear® is designed to be rearmed and returned to service. Follow the Owner's Manual rearming procedure, which involves inspecting and repacking the bladder, replacing the CO2 cartridge, and resetting the arming mechanism. The compatible replacement CO2 cartridge and rearming kit is the Leland Rearming Kit (Part No. V95000-85202Z), available separately.

Inspect your inflatable PFD before every offshore passage and at minimum annually. Check the CO2 cartridge for proper seating and puncture, inspect the bladder for damage, and verify the ALL CLEAR window shows GREEN. Replace the arming mechanism per manufacturer recommendations regardless of condition.

Key Features:

  • U.S. Coast Guard Approved: Meets all U.S. Coast Guard standards for inflatable life jackets, with automatic inflation and extended sizing that fits up to a 65” chest.
  • Reusable Design: Inflate and reuse as needed. Follow the Owner’s Manual for proper arming with the CO2 cartridge and rearming instructions.
  • Convenient and Safe: The secure pull inflation handle clips to the life jacket to prevent snag hazards and ensure easy deployment.
  • Colors: Blue, Red, Gray
  • Replacement CO2 Cartridge: Leland Rearming Kit V95000-85202Z

Upgrade your water safety with the West Marine All Clear® Offshore Inflatable Life Jacket with Harness. Whether you're sailing, boating, or engaging in water sports, this life jacket provides unmatched comfort, visibility, and reliability for every adventure.
