Dometic Autopilot Pump
The Dometic SeaStar AP1233 is a highly reliable, plug-and-play hydraulic autopilot pump designed for use across a wide range of marine steering applications. Operating at 12 VDC, it features a Type 2 fixed flow, reversible internal hydraulic gear pump that delivers 100 cubic inches per minute under no load, making it suitable for inboard, outboard, and sterndrive (I/O) hydraulic steering systems. With a maximum pressure rating of 1000 PSI and a typical current draw of 5–11 amps up to 300 PSI, it is engineered for efficient and reliable operation. The pump is compatible with cylinder capacities of 12.5 to 21 cubic inches and accepts SeaStar Steering Fluid HA5430H or MIL Spec H5606QT hydraulic fluid.
Formerly sold under the Teleflex and SeaStar Solutions brands, the AP1233 is now marketed under the Dometic brand. It is a direct replacement for many 12-volt and 24-volt autopilot pumps from other manufacturers, including those from Simrad, SI-TEX, Furuno, Raymarine, Accu-Steer, Comnav, and Octopus.
Installation is straightforward — the pump includes 24" of 12 AWG wire (no connectors), and tools required are limited to open-ended wrenches, wire cutters/crimpers, and a screwdriver for the mounting plate. The pump can be operated as a stand-alone autopilot pump or mounted directly to a SeaStar PA1200-2 Power Assist unit using the optional HA1205 retrofit kit. A mounting bracket is included in the package.
