Harken Vang-Master 7
The Vang-Master 7 is a premium rigid vang system designed for mid-range cruising and racing sailboats. It combines mechanical leverage with pneumatic support to deliver superior boom control and mainsail management. The system features an integral Dyneema-lined sheave with a 2:1 primary purchase that cascades to 4:1, allowing for further multiplication through optional block-and-tackle kits (sold separately) to achieve 16:1 or 24:1 mechanical advantage when needed.
This vang mounts at approximately 45 degrees between the mast (near the partners) and the boom, providing downward pressure during sailing and lifting force when the mainsail is lowered and stowed. An integrated Schrader air valve supplies pneumatic pressure to hold the boom level and prevent accidental drops during light-air sailing. The system is ideal for boats seeking responsive, controllable boom dynamics without heavy manual input.
