The Wakespeed 8m Thermistor Temperature Sensor is a plug-and-play accessory designed to connect directly to the mating connector on the Wakespeed WS500 alternator regulator harness. With an 8-meter (approximately 25 ft.) cable length, this long-run sensor is ideally suited for van build systems where components may be spread across a large area, and it is equally capable in marine installations where routing distances require extra reach.
The sensor may be used as either an alternator temperature sensor or a battery temperature sensor, providing the WS500 regulator with real-time thermal data. This allows the regulator to dynamically limit or adjust charge output based on actual temperature conditions, helping to prevent overheating and extending the life of both the alternator and the battery bank. All three cable lengths in the Wakespeed thermistor family — 0.3m, 3m, and 8m — are functionally interchangeable for either sensing role, but common usage patterns favor the 8m version for battery sensing in larger or more complex installations.
