Lewmar 185TT5.0 Bow Thruster - 12V, 6.7 HP (5.0 kW), Typical Boat 40 to 55 ft

The Lewmar 185TT5.0 bow thruster brings powerful, quiet, and reliable maneuvering capability to vessels from 40 to 55 feet. Part of Lewmar's extensive TT thruster range covering boats from 30 to 150 feet, this 12V electric model delivers 6.7 HP (5.0 kW) and 181 lb (82 kgf) of thrust through a 185 mm tunnel, making docking and close-quarters handling significantly easier and more predictable.

The revolutionary TT propeller design uses high-performance 5-blade composite propellers to provide exactly equal thrust in both port and starboard directions, giving the helmsman maximum control at all times. The unique cassette shaft seal surpasses conventional double lip seals by providing superior sealing without the need for a top-up reservoir, eliminating a common source of leaks and reducing ongoing maintenance requirements to virtually zero.

Lewmar's engineering focus on reliability is evident throughout: the spline-driven propeller requires no shear pin, anodes are secured with a large nut for easy in-water replacement, and self-resetting thermal protection is built into all motors. The thruster is specifically engineered to handle debris jams should they occur, and black box electronics prevent misuse while protecting the motor from overload. A hardened and ground spiral bevel gear delivers maximum efficiency and quiet power transmission, while the minimum silhouette hub ensures smooth water flow.

Installation is straightforward thanks to plug-together switch connections and a round-back control panel that fits standard instrument cut-outs. The thruster is compatible with both joystick and touch panel control options. All models in the TT series can be installed as stern thrusters as well. The 185TT range is available in both 12V and 24V electric versions as well as hydraulic variants.
