Harken 60mm Protexitâ„¢ Exit Block - Wide Sheave
When racing demands repeated, rapid hoists and douses on windward-leeward legs, conventional halyard exit blocks can wear through their sideplates from side-angle loading. The Harken Protexitâ„¢ Exit Block eliminates that vulnerability with an all-aluminum, wear-resistant housing that carefully guides line in and out at virtually any angle. The result is a through-deck exit block that protects both itself and the halyard running through it, race after race.
The wide sheave design accommodates lines up to 12 mm (1/2 in) in diameter, and the 60 mm aluminum sheave rotates on precision sleeve bearings with Delrin® sideload balls. These balls resist deformation under the most extreme sideload conditions, extending both block and line life. Protexit blocks deliver higher working loads than any small boat exit blocks Harken has previously manufactured, with a maximum working load of 1,200 kg (2,640 lb) and a breaking load of 2,400 kg (5,292 lb).
Designed as a through-deck mounting solution, the block installs with 6 mm flat-head fasteners on 105 mm centers, making it compatible with a wide range of dinghy and one-design deck configurations. At 296 g (10.4 oz) and 129 mm (5 1/16 in) in length, it offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio for performance sailing applications.
