||The West Marine flagship store in Old Saybrook will host its grand opening celebration from Thursday April 12 through Sunday April 15. The Store offers Connecticut-area boaters the broadest and best selection of boating supplies, accessories and apparel.
There will also be special in-store events all weekend long on Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Responding to the needs of Connecticut boaters, the new store is 25,000 square feet with a larger selection of saltwater fishing gear and tackle specifically selected for the region. The new store also includes a Port Supply Hub, offering timely delivery of a broad selection of marine accessories and products to keep Connecticut boating businesses cruising.
On Thursday April 12 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., West Marine will host the “Cruising for a Cause” charity event supporting local marine-based non-profits, including Mystic Seaport, Sea-Legs, Inc., the Connecticut Marine Trades Association, the Pettipaug Yacht Club Sailing Academy, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Maritime Education Network. Tickets are $10 and are available through these non-profits or at the door.
A ribbon cutting ceremony with Old Saybrook First Selectman Carl Fortuna, West Marine CEO, Geoff Eisenberg, and representatives from the various charitable organizations benefiting from the “Cruising for a Cause” fundraiser is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday April 12.
