FAMILY-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES ALL WEEKEND AT WEST MARINE’S NORTH PALM BEACH FLAGSHIP STORE GRAND OPENING THURSDAY, JUNE 9 TO SUNDAY, JUNE 12 - Meet Jake Anderson As Featured On Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch”

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (May 25, 2011)
West Marine, (Nasdaq:WMAR) the country’s largest specialty retailer of boating supplies and apparel, announced the grand opening celebration of its Flagship Store in North Palm Beach, Florida on Thursday, June 9 to Sunday, June 12, 2011. Anglers and boaters can take part in the weekend celebration at the store, located at 11241 US Highway 1 just south of the PGA Boulevard in North Palm Beach. Festivities begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m., Thursday through Saturday and until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Jake Anderson of the fishing vessel Northwestern, as featured on Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch,” will be signing autographs from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th.

Other activities throughout the weekend:

Grand opening events include a “Casting for a Cause” charity night to be held on Thursday, June 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the store. Tickets are $10 and available at the door or through the following local charities: Loggerhead Marine Life Center, the Snook Foundation, Lagoonkeepers, Teen Anglers and the Marine Industry Education Foundation. All of the proceeds will directly support these local charities. Attendees will enjoy food, drinks and live entertainment

Jake Anderson of the fishing vessel Northwestern, as featured on Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch,” will join the highest bidder on a fishing trip donated by Capt. Jonathan Wright of Au Breezy and Wright on Time Fishing Charters.Proceeds will benefit the attending charity of the bidder’s choice.

Store Manager Damon Wilson started his career at West Marine 17 years ago while in high school as a part time worker. Wilson is an active boater and angler and his family currently owns several boats. He frequently fishes the Florida Keys and the Bahamas and has a special fondness for the Yellow Fin Tuna in Venice, Louisiana. In the past he has served as a volunteer for the St. Lucie County Marine Unit while managing the West Marine Ft. Pierce store.

This West Marine will have a crew of 40 Associates with more than 300 years of combined boating, sailing and fishing experience. They’ve cruised a combined total of over 65,000 nautical miles.
