Comments about Bainbridge Small Screw-On Plastic Shackles:

Clips on my sail failed from age while cruising in breezy conditions.

Desperate, I bought these. They did work.

However the plastic thickness is thinner than my original clips. Doubtful they last long. . Screw in clip harder to use than original press clips. Requires a very small screwdriver. How many boats have a jewelry screwdriver? Luckily we did.

Comments about Bainbridge Small Screw-On Plastic Shackles:

I have A 1991 Hunter 30T, this is 2014 so the boat is 23 years old. The boat has spent most of its life in Hawaii were the normal winds are 15 to 25 Knots and the sun light (UV) is very high. The mast step needed to be replaced due to normal wear and tear so I decided to replace all of the main sail attachment components at the same time. It was a good thing that I did because the old ones broke apart in my hand when I removed them from the main sail. I went to my local West Marine store to replace the existing nylon sail shackles with new ones. There was not much choice available for the replacement (industry wide not West Marine) so I ordered what was available. I ordered this part and it is a lot smaller than what was originally installed. The original had a diameter of 1/4" and this part is 3/16". The only way that I will know if this part holds up will be in another 10 years.

      Service and delivery comments:

The service from West Marine online was fantastic - I ordered them on the weekend and received them on Wednesday by USPS for a shipping cost of $9.95.

Comments about Bainbridge Small Screw-On Plastic Shackles:

These shackles are strong. The stainless steel screws are more secure than the snap-on shackles they replaced on my boat.
