Aye! This SUP was made to roam the sea (or lake or river) like the notorious pirate it was named after!
Combining the best features of BOTE's uber versatile HD board and their giant-killer Ahab SUP, the hip Rackham Bug Slinger is destined for a special place in fishing lore. Twelve feet of the ultimate in fishing utility. Legendary stability, speed and versatility with a take-no-prisoners graphic treatment and durable construction. And did we mention it will comfortably transport a combined weight from you and your gear of up to 400 pounds? For most paddlers, that's a LOT of gear you can bring to the party.
Hull
The Rackham features a fiberglass shell with an expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam core formed into a displacement V-hull. Channel grooves were added to aerate the bottom of the board so it will flow a little quicker on the water than a flat bottom. At a generous 7" deep, this hull provides excellent flotation and stability with its weight of only 41 pounds without gear.
Deck
The large, flat, recessed deck makes a sturdy platform for aggressive paddling, plus casting, fighting and landing trophy fish. It's also here on the deck that the Rackham sets the standard for features other SUPs only dream about.
Built-In Features
Starting at the bow, you'll first notice the Paddle Sheath™ that allows you to insert the blade end of your paddle into the slot, conveniently holding your paddle upright and within reach so your hands are freed up for landing dinner.
Next, there's an integrated bungee strapping system that keeps your dry bag (sold separately) and other essentials on your board and above the water.
As you make your way onto the recessed deck you'll find it covered with a texture that is heat embossed onto the surface of the foam, not only providing incredible grip and comfort, but eliminating water absorption, making the board lighter and faster than traditional deck pads.
Next up is the first of two thru-holes. Thru-holes are openings from the deck through to the bottom of the board. By utilizing a “stake” or shallow water anchor pole thrust into the mud or sand, your board can stay anchored in place. They also make a great place to snake a cable through so you can lock up your Rackham and prevent plundering.
Another feature you'll wonder how you ever did without is the Stashpod. Watertight storage, an integrated bottle opener and a place to keep your favorite beverage from tipping over makes the Stashpod a popular amenity.
Then there's ConnexSUP, a universal mount that functions as an interface between the deck and an ever expanding number of mountable accessories.
Next, receivers for BOTE's unique Tackle Rac (sold separately) that can turn your Rackham into a skiff are positioned so you can place it in front or behind your paddling position.
Cooler tiedowns are added that feature a swivel action to allow the strap angle to adjust for optimum pressure distribution (you don't want your Yeti [sold separately] floating off full of your favorite beverages).
You'll find the centrally located grab handle has been designed to ensure your fingers won't go numb and you'll have plenty of leverage to carry your board to the water.
Integrated latch points in the rail of the board are part of BOTE's patent pending Travelink™ Carry System. By simply clicking in the Travelink™ Sling (sold separately) to the latch points, you can remove all weight from your hands and carry the board more safely and ergonomically with your shoulders and back. The best part is it's permanently flush mounted into the rails—when you aren’t using it, you won't notice it. There is zero effect on the paddling dynamics. The Travelink™ latch points can also be used to lock and secure your board.
Two more Travelink latch points are positioned on top of the deck so you can secure your sling between your feet while you're on the water.
Another bungee tiedown is found at the rear deck pad for yet more storage options and finally the all-important leash attachment point so you won't be separated from your Rackham for long.
Underneath is an included stabilizer fin (and slots for 4 optional side fins) that helps your board track straight on flatwater excursions.
Volume
The displacement V-hull, 32" wide beam and 7" depth of the Rackham is designed for maximum capacity and stability. Rated at 400 pounds, this board will carry all you need for an extended adventure across the water!
Shape
The extra wide platform provides the stability you need to fish confidently in a variety of conditions.
Remember to order an SUP paddle and life jacket (both sold separately) so you'll be ready to start your adventure as soon as possible!
