Does not work with Halkey Roberts Valves

By diesel_dinghy

Comments about SP 125 Pressure Gauge:

I bought this gauge to use with my Bombard 9 ft inflatable boat to make sure I inflate it to the correct pressure. It has Halkey Roberts valves on all of the tubes. This gauge, even though it has a lot of adapters, would not work at all with these valves. You would think with all of the adapters, at least one would work on one of the most common air valves. This is a significant shortcoming of this gauge set in my opinion.

Comments about SP 125 Pressure Gauge:

I asked West Marine if this pressure gauge would work with Halkey-Roberts valves and they emailed back saying yes. I'm not a klutz so I know what I'm doing when I tried all of the adapters on my inflatable boat Halkey-Roberts valves and the results were less than acceptable. If you need to use low fractional psi 2.5-3 lbs, then this pressure gauge's dial face will not be easy to determine the psi readings.I'm going to look for a digital psi gauge with a 2-2.5inch dial face that may cost $40-70. WestMarine still is my favorite store but I'm giving up on this SP125 Bravo Pressure Gauge.

Comments about SP 125 Pressure Gauge:

The white plastic adapters that come with this sp125 pressure gauge does NOT work for Halkey-Roberts valves. The fit is not tight enough to prevent air leaks when trying to get the psi reading or to fill air thru the gauge.Dial face is smaller than expected so it may be hard for you to read the psi also. It was a inexpensive [$] but spent another $11 to have it shipped to me. Being that it was too expensive to return it to West Marine, I opted to make my own adapter to work with this pressure gauge. The gauge psi range is 0-16 lbs and the readings are not that accurate. My usage is 2.5-3 lbs on my inflatable boat tubes.

Comments about SP 125 Pressure Gauge:

the price is extremely low. i searched everywhere for something that works the same. a pump with gauge will at least cost you 30bucks somewhere else. [...] by the way, the gauge did work for what i needed it for. maybe not a 5, but i had to balance out the 1star it was given.

Comments about SP 125 Pressure Gauge:

Very difficult to use on Boston/Standard valves because of the internal diaphragm in the valve prevents air getting back to the gauge to register psi. Also question accuracy of readings when inflating. At 2psi the boat was to burst.
