Comments about Women's Hydropower 4 Deck Shoes:
I was so excited about these shoes because the reviews I read before buying them sounded good. I was looking for a sailing shoe with good grip. I wore out my previous Sperry-Topsiders. I had never had Helly Hansen products before (also bought a jacket). SUPER disappointed in both! Neither lived up to their review, not even closely, even on 1st wearing!!!
We had a sprinkle of rain (truly that was all) & my foot slipped right off the deck landing me on the inside edge of our cockpit. My thigh was bruised & swollen for a week. I couldn't lie on my right side in bed because it hurt so much. It was a hard landing. Our boat deck is fine. We race & no one has ever had a problem but no one has/had Helly Hansen on either!
I would leave it there & chalk it up to a bad design but as mentioned earlier, I bought a mid-layer jacket to replace a "fading" Gill jacket that I can wear 3 seasons. The Helly Hanse mid-layer jacket touted to be equal if not better (than my Gill). It's currently summer in Vancouver & was maybe 18C (due to a 3~4 knot breeze). I was freezing & I had long sleeves underneath! I've never been so cold on a summer's early evening sail. I'm sticking with my Gill, no matter how much it wears out (at least for now)!
One thing is certain Helly Hansen has lost me! I'm no longer interested no matter how nice the design may look or how good the review. With our weather here, I need to know I can rely on my gear unless it shows due wear!
If you want a shoe with grip, these AREN't the ones!!!
