Comments about Lowrance Hst-dfsbl Skimmer Transducer With Temperature:

This is the third transducer bought for an otherwise good Lowrance unit. These transducers, with the built in temperature sensor, have a design flaw in that the hole for the sensor collects water and freezes. This cracks the unit and makes it worthless. The unit either needs to have a quick disconnect so it can be stored inside during winter or the sensor needs to be redesigned. This is not a new problem -- surprised Lowrance did not correct it years ago.

It tracks the bottom very well...

Comments about Lowrance Hst-dfsbl Skimmer Transducer With Temperature:

I expected this to last longer than it did. Like Jammer's review, mine has come apart at the seams. I noticed that it didn't work right except when I was not moving in the boat, and found that the case of the transducer had come apart. Needless to say, I'm disappointed. This is my second Lowrance depth finder, and, though the rest of the unit works fine, I hate to spend [$] on a replacement transducer that I know is not going to last very long. I hear garmin makes a good depth finder.

Comments about Lowrance Hst-dfsbl Skimmer Transducer With Temperature:

The fact that I had to buy this replacement transducer after a few seasons of use points to a basic quality issue with these Lowrance transom mount units. The case of the transducer opens up at the seams, first the temp stops working, and eventually the sonar quits too.
I like the LMS-527iDF/GPS head unit, so I had no choice but to buy this replacement transducer. I hope this one lasts longer than the original...
