Comments about Minn Kota Riptide SM 55/L&D/SC/H Trolling Motor, 42":

Used my Riptide RT 55 typically multiple times a week for 12 years on my flats boat mostly in salt water (I'm a retired and passionate fisherman) and the control module finally failed before I did. Bought a new Riptide SM 55 and like it a lot (kind of like buying a new car) - it's quiet, strong and efficient and the improvements (camlock depth control, battery status indicators and fold down handle) are great. Only one minor issue - my RT was variable speed and the SM has a 5 speed selector - I didn't think this would matter but, for me, it does - (wish it had a 1/2 speed) - love the motor and the speed selector is a minor inconvenience but variable speed may be best for you.
