Comments about Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Sit-on-top Angler Kayak, Yellow:

Bought my Ocean Prowler about 3 years ago. Although I have only used on the lake I live on, this lake can have very rough white caps. This kayak takes those waves just as easily head on as riding/surfing. I've buried the front many times and never come close to capsizing. Very stable and surprisingly easy to maneuver. Mainly bought it because of its ability to carry lots of weight. I'm 6'6", 245 lbs. Good leg room and storage room with ample weight capacity to spare. Although a bit heavy, it's pretty easy to carry since the side handles are perfectly positioned for balance. The only issue I've had was that the front carry handle kept popping out, but that was an easy fix. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Sit-on-top Angler Kayak, Yellow:

Love this yak! I fish a great deal n the San Francisco Bay area. This yak is good for fresh water as well as ocean. I do a lot of ocean fishing in the big swells (10' plus) and we are stable as a can be. I've never once worried about flipping and if I take on a bit of water, it's my fault. (you need to pay attention at all times in the ocean) I added a fish finder, two front rod holders (scott) and a really good seat. Nothing is more important than the seat so don't skimp there. I have caught everything from shark to lingcod to big bass off this machine and I never had a bad day. I really like the yellow in the ocean as the bigger boats can see you at a distance.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Sit-on-top Angler Kayak, Yellow:

This is our second Prowler in the same model. We enjoy taking others with us for recreational paddling, so needed another boat that was big enough for a man, easy to paddle for a woman, and could basically accommodate adults of all sizes. We love these boats for running smaller rivers and fishing, and occasionally use them on big lakes. We also like our Tarpon 140, but it is a bit of a barge (i.e., heavy) and not as maneuverable. This boat hits the "sweet spot" -- long enough to track well at a good speed, and yet nimble enough for small rivers and tighter spaces. Thus far our sit-on-top flotilla consists of 4 Ocean Kayak Scramblers, 2 Ocean Kayak Prowler 13s, and 1 Wilderness Systems Tarpon 140: this boat is my favorite of them all.

It will be better if the bow hatch cover is water-tight.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Sit-on-top Angler Kayak, Yellow:

I used this kayak for offshore fishing and inshore fishing, mostly sitting, than standing. It has great cargo capacity in the stern well (easily holds a medium size cooler, or a fishing crate plus a personal cooler) and a spacious bow compartment. Sitting is very stable and can cast without tipping. Standing takes some skill. I purposely practiced tipping and re-entry and it is very easy to flip up and re-entry in deep water. Has a great little strap latch in the front to strap medium size lure (rigging) boxes or electronics. Has molded areas for the flush and Scotty type rod holders (the one not rigged from factory). Has great tracking and turns good. Is a lighter kayak 50+s lbs, when compared to a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 13 70+s lbs, so it is easier to transport from water to vehicle and to roof rails or rack. Very good sturdy handles on both sides and rope handles at each end tip, convenient for transport in dry land. Material is scratchable, but it is durable, is not a soft-plexible-like plastic like Pelican, but not as hard-tensile as Hobie (I'm not saying either is better or worse materials is just that some composites are softer-feel to the touch, other are harder-feel, and some materials have a greater tensile strength others are less malleable). Prowler material is right in between. Overall I really like this kayak as it fits the purpose for it's design and it is user friendly in terms of captaining and dry transport.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Sit-on-top Angler Kayak, Yellow:

Great kayak, my new baby, this thing is awsome, its great from fishing lake and even going offshore in rough weather, its just stable enough to stand but if your over 6foot five inch would not atempt, great and well placed rod holders are in the perfect position for trolling baits, a little wet but because its florida its nice. Great all round kayak for the cost.

Specs say comes with padded seat. Shipped to store without seat, had to argue with store manager 45 minutes after showing him specs on web before he grudgingly agreed to give me the cheapest seat in the store. Guess it depends on how much your store manager values a happy customer.Merritt island Florida doesn't seem to much care.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Sit-on-top Angler Kayak, Yellow:

I took this out on Canyon Lake the first day as soon as I picked it up from the store. At almost 14 feet and 54lb the kayak is a little hard to handle on the ground, however as soon as you hit you will be amazed at how fast and easy to maneuver this yak is. It is also very stable, I took it out on the 4th of July so there were a lot of power boats but i never felt in danger of flipping the yak.
