Hydrocoat SR takes the proven formula of Hydrocoat and adds the slime inhibitor Irgarol for effective prevention of tough hard and soft growth. Easier on the environment, the water-based formula of Hydrocoat SR eliminates the offensive solvents found in most bottom paints, for easy application and cleanup, with low VOCs and no heavy solvent smell. Hydrocoat SR’s surface wears away with use, which exposes fresh biocides and eliminates paint buildup along with the need for heavy sanding at haulout. Able to withstand trailering, beaching, and launching, the formula also allows unlimited dry time before launch—so you can paint when you want and launch when you please.

  • Type: Dual-biocide, water-based ablative
  • Recommended Usage: All fouling waters
  • Biocide: 40% Cuprous oxide
  • Additives: Irgarol
  • Number of Coats Recommended: 2-3
  • Coverage: 400sq.ft./gal.
  • Drying Time: To overcoat: 2hrs.: To launch: 16hrs. @ 70°F
  • Thinner: Water

Comments about Hydrocoat SR Dual-Biocide Ablative Antifouling Paint:

I have used this product for the past three seasons on the wood steps on my lake pier. The product eliminates slime growth for the summer season. This prevents falls from slippery footing. I have to reapply every year because the paint does not retain its bond to the wood which is submerged and it peels off towards the end of the season. I have tried several primers to no avail. The product stores well and it will last at least three years in the can. Although not perfect, it is a temporary solution. I will continue to use it until I find a better solution.

Comments about Hydrocoat SR Dual-Biocide Ablative Antifouling Paint:

My boat is on a buoy in fertile saltwater from June through September. This keeps marine growth off just as effectively as the Micron Plus I used in the past, and doesn't suffocate the painter.
