I've been using the Rule 1100 gal/hr cartridge pump for years with great results.I have two in my boat, and run only one to service two 50 gal baitwells.I keep one as a back up. I've tried others, but the Rule pumps last at least 18 months or more of heavy use. For the low replacement cost of the cartridge this is good value in my opinion. I have only Rule pumps in my boat (both livewell and bilge) as they have proven their reliability over the years.

I go fishing usually for 8-10 days at a time 6 times a year.
I do not run the pump over night.
This pump is only good for 1 to 3 trips max and starts whining and then quits. Always have extra replacement moters, but what a nuisance trying to replace this pump while you are rocking on the ocean and your bait is dying.
Trying to buy and keep extra relacement moters and it's such a hot seller it's out of stock! Why is a replacement moter such a hot seller? Because it doesn't last!

    Comments about Rule Livewell/Baitwell Pumps:

    Replaced original 700gpm Rule pump.
This one is 800gpm and has 2 outlets.
If outlet to live well breaks (like original model) I can replace hose nipple. Not the whole pump. Can't wait to try wash down hose (2nd outlet)

      Comments about Rule Livewell/Baitwell Pumps:

This pump is so unreliable that I carry two spares on my boat. I also modify the wiring to plug in to the boat to speed the replacement while out fishing. In the past year I have replaced the pump over 6 times. It breaks down in every conceivable way.....mechanically and electrically.
While it is working it moves water through the live well with sufficient flow to keep bait alive for a full day of fishing.

Unfortunate that this product rusts out in less than 6 months. The shaft deteriorates quickly and of course the pump stops working. My bait dies, only clue is if it the water stops going into the live well while fishing, if it occurs overnight then my bait is dead by morning time. I've replaced the pump three times in 12 months. If you can remove the pump each time used and wash it down with fresh water, lubricate it, it might last longer. They need to used stainless steal for the shaft.
