Comments about Shakespeare Galaxy 5225-XT/5226-XT 8 Antenna:

This antenna works great. I didnt cut the cable because someone told me they will work better, I just coiled up the extra cable and zip tied it inside the wiring box. End that goes into the radio needs soldering. Transmits very well and receives great too. Just make sure to make a clean connection just like the directions say.

Attachment of terminal was easy with some soldering knowledge. order a solderless terminal if inexperienced.

Comments about Shakespeare Galaxy 5225-XT/5226-XT 8 Antenna:

I have had to use the radio to call for help. The signal was excellent in pitching seas. Cheaper antennae can lose signal when the boat is pitching badly. This unit has a broader signal and thankfully our calls were answered. Our boat was disabled and we were heading out under the Golden Gate Bridge to go crabbing. Anyone who knows the bay area knows how rough it can be out there. When your motor dies your only life saver is your radio. This is not part of your boat you want to scrimp on. This model has the newer low loss signal cable which is larger than the older versions.
