Comments about NSS7 Combo GPS/Sonar MFD:

The Simrad NSS series is one of the best all around MFDs. Has the same broadband sounder and many of the same features as the Lowrance Gen2. The 3:4 aspect ratio provides more useable screen that a wide 16:9 layout. Very networkable. Hybrid touch and rotary dial control provides the the best of both worlds. Very easy to control in a moving boat. A great buy.

Comments about NSS7 Combo GPS/Sonar MFD:

I installed this before I ran from Maryland to Key West. I installed it with the 3G radar that is so good I was picking up birds once I got it calibrated. The touch screen is great, but it will get a little glitchy when the screen gets a lot of water on it, but what are you going to do?

I recommend this to everyone, the integration possibilities are great and I hope to add autopilot to the system.

It is easy to move from page to page and menu to menu. So far the depth finder is much easier to read than my Lowrance HDS 7. I haven't used it long and can already do most things that I need to do. I'm impressed with it.

Comments about NSS7 Combo GPS/Sonar MFD:

I bought this machine because I was tired of the mickey mouse machines that you find in the $400-$700 range. This machine has way more capability than the average fisherman will ever use. At the same time, the basics (sonar & gps) are top of the line. The extra $ you spend on this machine is worth every penny if you rely on finding structure for fishing. I fish saltwater anywhere from 20-150 ft. If you are thinking of purchasing this machine, go ahead and spend a couple of extra bucks and get the B60 thru-hull ducer. Great set up!

Comments about NSS7 Combo GPS/Sonar MFD:

I love this machine and particularly the ability to freeze the depth sounder screen and then "trackback" to bottom structure that I have already passed over. The controls are intuitive and I very quickly learned how to use this unit despite the cryptic operator manual and quick start guide, which were not particularly helpful. The built in GPS antenna works well through my T-top and tower.
I had previously thought that touch screens in a marine setting were not a good idea. The NSS7 has changed my mind and although smudges can be seen on the screen when it is powered down they are not noticeable during operation.
I use a transom mounted Lowrance skimmer transducer, the depth sounder shows good bottom with minimal noise at 28 knots.
