Comments about West Marine LED Surface Utility Eyeball Light:

Bought two of these lights two years ago to replace the arch lights in my boat. First one quit working within the first couple of months. Second one quit working within first week of use in the second year. Garbage, garbage, garbage...did I say garbage product? Called West Marine customer service about the lights and they were not knowledgeable nor understanding about the problem. Don't buy these lights.

Comments about West Marine LED Surface Utility Eyeball Light:

Bought two of these lights two seasons ago while converting all of my interior lights to LED. Figured the turning ability of these would be great for over my convertable dinette. Start of the first season had ZERO complaints. The lights were perfect. Produced the perfect amount of light. Then as the summer went on the on/off button started being harder and harder to lock in the "ON" position. But they still worked so no complaints. During the second season, one of the two the on off button wasnt an on off button anymore. It functioned just like a momentary switch. On the other light it discolored to the point where the white color it would produce is now yellow. Now here I am about to start a major interior and exterior overhaul of my boat, I am going to have to replace both lamps. Just avoid them. Get a higher quality product.

Installed one 2 yrs ago, and it stopped working with very light duty. Not sure the led can even be replaced, but I will buy another one because I already have the hole in the boat.

Comments about West Marine LED Surface Utility Eyeball Light:

I was cursing WEST marine the entire time I installed these. I asked non-boating friends to estimate what they would have paid for one. I asked them to hold it in their hand and examine it. They said around three dollars. These are the flimsiest plastic lights it's possible to produce. The switches are vague acting, and miniscule, and the wires are "sealed" with a blob of melted plastic on top of the teeny plastic switch. The cup of the light is about 1/2 mm thick plastic, and the wires tend to prevent the core of the light from seating in it's keyed slot unless you cut a large-ish hole in the headliner of your boat. No screws are provided, and they need to have small head to sink into the provided holes and not impede (again) the core from seating properly. Very cynical of WEST to sell something like this for [$] All that said, they are nice and bright. The directinal rotation of the ball and socket is very listless and un-positive. AS I said, cheap cheap cheap cheap times 10000.
