Comments about West Marine Saba 9.5 Sit-Inside Kayak, Lime/Blue:

We bought two Saba 9.5 boats because our 13+ foot kayaks were getting heavier and harder to hoist onto the top of our SUV. So far (3 weeks in) we are very happy with the Saba kayaks. They track very well, given the length, and are stable and comfortable. We could paddle with or against a 4 mph current without a problem. One issue we did not foresee is that some equipment for loading kayaks on cars and SUV's (like rollers or slides) presuppose a longer boat. The Saba is truly lightweight, but its length argues for side-mounted rather than rear-mounted loading.

Comments about West Marine Saba 9.5 Sit-Inside Kayak, Lime/Blue:

I am a fairly experienced kayaker, having gone a lot as a kid. This is the first kayak I have bought for myself. All and all it is a great kayak for just paddling around. I would not take it into really rough water though, but that was not what I bought it for. My only issue was the bungee cord on the right side that is supposed to hold the paddle when not in use. I paddle pretty hard and close to the kayak hull, frequently bumping against it. The little plastic brackets for the bungee chewed up my paddle the first time I used the kayak. I took the brackers off and plugged the holes and West Marine replaced my paddle. I would recommend that modification to any avid kayaker using this kayak.

Comments about West Marine Saba 9.5 Sit-Inside Kayak, Lime/Blue:

I had never even been on a kayak before when I bought this one. I love it! It's a lot of fun, and good exercise too! I wouldn't trust it in the ocean, but it's great for trips around the Intercoastal Waterway and perfect for wildlife observation. And sometimes I just drift and read a book. Very relaxing. I only wish it had more storage, or at least a safe place for my cell phone. You'll need to get a good air-tight container and secure it to the boat or to yourself.
