It's a fun, handy lite blow up...but very frustrating to paddle. I have had blow ups, and this one is the worst wiggle worm. I've tried it with and without the removable skag...and even tried to make one. But I think it is because of the tier drop configuration of the hull with the weight at the wide spot. Lets the bow wiggle around in front of the paddler. Wish I had gotten the one just a step above this one.

    Don't bother

    Pros

    • Tracks nicely

    Cons

    • Poorly made
    • Valves Leak

I purchased the product when it was on sale and was very excited to begin using it. At first the kayak worked fine, but after having it for less than two weeks it would no longer inflate due to a leak. My mom also purchased the same kayak and encountered the same exact problem. Do not waste your money on this poorly made product. I do suggest the West Marines Saba 9.5 as a replacement.

    Service and delivery comments:

The product came in working order and the associates at West Marine store were very helpful.

This is a great kayak if you have limited space. It's easy to transport and is a lot of fun on the water. It doesn't take long to pump with the foot pump that is provided. It performs very well in the bay. This model has the newer skeg design which holds your course through the water very well. I am really enjoying it!

        Just what we wanted

We are very happy with the kayak & will buy another next time they go on sale. We have used it from our sailboat all summer. It inflates surprisingly fast and is quite comfortable. The seat does tend to slip down in use. I would suggest (at manufacture) the tie webbing be moved a little further down the back to prevent this.

          • For one week to practice

This Kayak was used 4 times and the fourth time a leak occurred around the valve. It was impossible with the kit provided and out cruising to repair a leak around the valve. I am out cruising and there is no West Marine to return the product to. If you leave the US leave this at home. If you plan on having this for more then a few months change your plans!

Used this week in the Florida Keys. Very easy to use for beginner. We stayed in calm waters but more experienced kayakers could use in currents and wind.

I am 5'11" and easily stretched my long legs out after opening the tongue in center the top of deck. Lots of storage areas. Seat was very supportive after inflated. All you need is paddles, life vest and a dry bag for keys, snack, and cell phone. Easy for me to carry from backseat of car to launch point.

                Best Uses

                • Calm saltwater bays
                • Florida canals
                • Sheltered harbors

I wanted an easily transportable, (relatively) inexpensive kayak that wouldn't take up much storage space. This kayak suits me especially since I can get it into a Mazda Protege and carry it without breaking my back.

Don't forget to attach the rudder before you get it fully inflated.
