The wooden arms are featured as "Hard Wood Arm Rest With UV Resistant Varnish". The varnish deteriorated as soon as the arms got damp and were ruined within two weeks. I had to sand them down and give them multiple coats of varnish to bring them back. Otherwise, they are okay but overpriced for what they are.

Comments about West Marine Skipper Deck Chair:

New for this season we'll see how it holds up but very comfortable and light. No big deal if I need to refinish the small wood armrests in season or two.

Comments about West Marine Skipper Deck Chair:

The arm rests cannot be removed for refinishing (2 of the 4 mounting screws are un-accessable).

They fade and stain within 1 year and look very bad.

This is a fatal flaw in an otherwise good chair. Unless you want to buy chairs every year.

This is a great chair. Extremely durable. I bought 2 of them 2 years ago and they still look new. Very sturdy. I use them all year long. Either on my boat or on my deck at home. Just bought 2 more a couple of weeks ago. I am going to buy 4 more to keep on my deck at home. Makes excellent patio furniture. Very comfortable to sit in.
