Comments about West Marine Stainless-Steel Straight-Edge Rigging Knife:

We wanted a jib hard bottom inflatable, I like the aluminum construction, and the size, 105 lbs, which fits nice on our swim step, plus I can pull it up on the davits. The manufacture did their homework on designing and building these boats.

Comments about West Marine Stainless-Steel Straight-Edge Rigging Knife:

Use it a pocket knife. I always have it with me.
It is extremely sharp. I treat it carefully but have bought several backups to have available.

Comments about West Marine Stainless-Steel Straight-Edge Rigging Knife:

I bought one of these slim little knives as an impulse purchase at the check-out counter a couple of years ago. My rationale was that I could keep this one on my person and not drop my more expensive rigging knife overboard. If I did drop this inexpensive knife, I wouldn't be tempted to do something unsafe to try to recover it.
Well, I haven't dropped it (yet), but I have found it to be a very sharp blade that has held its edge, lightweight in my pocket, and a useful tool. I can easily open it with one hand.
Yes, a "true" rigging knife should have a separate shackle key and a marline spike. My more expensive rigging knife does have these features, and it sits in my sailing bag. I've used that knife (actually, the spike) exactly once since I bought this little knife, and I use this little knife almost every time I sail.
I need to buy another to put in my PFD pocket, and maybe a couple as stocking stuffers.

Comments about West Marine Stainless-Steel Straight-Edge Rigging Knife:

440 Stainless Blade Not made in China!!Not really a "rigging" knife as there is no marlinspike. Positive lock w/ no play. Can be opened with one hand. Pick one up when its on sale for about [$]
