Used the light once or twice, Worked great. Now can't get a solid connection when attaching the charger. Issue appears to be in the light with an internal connection problem.

Comments about West Marine Waterproof 300 Lumen Battery-Powered Spotlight:

I needed to replace my ancient incandescent spot light with something and the W Marine light seemed like a good choice. During a 3-week offshore passage I needed to charge the light. I evidently plugged in the wrong charger (simple 12 VDC jack to small plug) and the lamp got very hot and smoldered. It requires a 9 VDC charger and can't handle 12 VDC. When ashore I got another and the DC charger doesn't even work - I can only charge with the AC block plugged into an inverter. I ended up getting a Stanley Fat Max and am much happier with that - it's smaller, better packaged and easily charges off 12 VDC. And it's less expensive.

Within the 2nd day of use the trigger to turn on/off light stopped working and the light stayed on all the time. The only way to turn off the light is by unscrewing the top where the batteries are.

I bought this light last year, and it was great while it lasted....which was one season.
I went to charge it and the battery had leaked and destroyed everything. So. it is now useless and I have to get a new light.
                    Buyer Beware.

I bought it for its advertised range. This product did not illuminate the banks of the ICW. Good construction, etc., but it did not work for that use (range) so I am returning it. WEST MARINE has an excellent return policy; satisfaction guaranteed.

I bought this for my boat. I was concerned that it might not be bright enough. However, the first night we had it, I tested it by shining it towards my barn a hundred yards from the house. I was able to light up the back inside of the barn from the house! I could barely do that with car headlights from 20 feet in front of the barn. I can't believe how bright this is. In fact, I am glad that I did not buy a brighter light. I do not think I will leave it on my boat, since it will be so useful around the house. We live in a rural area, and critters come through at night. Now, I can shine the light to see what critters are visiting. I may have to order another light for the boat, and keep this one at home!

I bought this because I really needed a recharchable light for my Catalina 30, and it was on sale... so why not? This is one of my favorite purchases. the light is BRIGHT, and the batteries last forever between charges... I am currently on a charge I did last summer, where we left it on for a day, and have used it over the winter for project after project... I haven't had to charge it yet! Get it, you won't be disappointed!
