#209 Extra Slow Hardener

209 Extra Slow Hardener is formulated for general coating and bonding applications in extremely warm and/or humid conditions, or when extended working time is desired at room temperature. Mixed with 105 Resin at a 3:1 ratio, it provides approximately twice the working time of 206 Slow Hardener. Forms a clear, amber-colored solid with good physical properties and moisture resistance for bonding and coating applications. Not intended for clear coating.

  • 209 SA-size hardener should be paired with 105 A-size resin.
  • 209 SB-size hardener should be paired with 105 B-size resin.
  • 209 SC-size hardener should be paired with 105 C-size resin.
  • 209 SE-size hardener should be paired with 105 E-size resin.

        I am 76 years old, and move more slowly than in the past. The slow hardener allows me more time to soak the mat with resin and roll it into place. I cut the number of mats and cloth I need for one side of the rudder, soak them one by one and roll them on, then go on to another project until that side is cured. Then I turn the rudder over and complete the second side. I haven't totally completed the project, but it is looking very good.

          We put on a little at a time, which spread very nicely, and left plenty of time for tweaking cloth and removing those crumbs that seem to materialize no matter how thoroughly you brush beforehand. We did not have to 'race the resin', and the second coat homogenized without a seam. [...]
