Comments about Gulper Shower Drain Kit:

Any live aboard, or anyone who uses their shower sump box for anything more than ac condensation, should upgrade to this. Although a bit pricey, from the rugged looks of the sump box/whale gulper pump combo this rig will last many years, and then only need a new diaphragm for the pump. The lack of decent installation instructions and the high price are the reason I give this excellent product 4 rather than 5 stars. In my case the lack of installation instructions was a bit frustrating since no where does it state that a vent is needed for the box.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The sump box is completely air tight and so drains will back up because the line is air locked, until the weight of the water overcomes the back pressure, or the pump kicks on to relieve the pressure. Creating a vent by drilling an unused in-flow fitting solved this problem. Some documentation of this would save amateur installers a lot of frustration.

Nice Upgrade

Comments about Gulper Shower Drain Kit:

My 2002 Sea Ray's original equipment for the shower sump was the (junk)Rule shower sump. I had to replace it multiple times over the years. I decided to change to the Gulper in hopes that it would be more dependable. I had to retrofit it, which took the better part of a day, but I feel it was worth it. The only complaint I have is that, not only do you have to cut off the sealed end of the nipples that you are going to use, you also have to drill them out. (The standard hole is as small as a drinking straw) I didn't realize that I had to drill it out until after I had it fully installed. I then, had to pull it back out...

Comments about Gulper Shower Drain Kit:

A great pump to replace the standard shower sump that every one has,, tired of playing with floats and little pumps that clog, bought this beast and it works great! Quiet and efficient. Took a little custom install as it is larger than my original but certainly worth the effort.
