WEST SYSTEM #206 Slow Hardener

206 Slow Hardener is a low-viscosity epoxy curing agent for use when extended working and cure time is needed or to provide adequate working time at higher temperatures. When combined with 105 Resin in a five-part resin to one-part hardener ratio, the cured resin/hardener mixture yields a rigid, high-strength, moisture-resistant solid with excellent bonding and coating properties. Comments about #206 Slow Hardener:

The 205 sets up a bit faster than Gflex and is a lot thinner. That allows it to be paintable, but it runs easily rather than hold in position if you are trying to use it to "mold" in a particular area. It is beautifully clear and leaves a great finish. I use it mainly to coat and connect wood. It really leaves a beautiful finish and protects well. For hard bonding, I use Gflex, but then coat the finished product with 205.

      Comments about #206 Slow Hardener:

Easy to mix. Easy to use. Gives just enough extra time to make detail repairs or work in hot/humid conditions. Doesn't seem to generate as much heat as other hardeners.

        Comments about #206 Slow Hardener:

It has been many years since I did any bulk fiberglassing. I used the slow hardener with the resin, and the pump system. The result was great - easy measuring, mixing, and plenty of time for working the product into my mold, smoothing, leveling, etc. This system - resin, hardener and pumps - made the project much easier than I expected and yielded a great result.

                  Comments about #206 Slow Hardener:

206 Slow Hardner mixes easily with 105 Epoxy Resin. It hardens slow enough to allow for multiple layers of glass without sanding. I highly recommend the West System pumps to go with the resin and hardner. The pumps take all of the guessing out of the mix ratios.

                  Comments about #206 Slow Hardener:

This is a wonderful epoxy - I use it on a regular basis to repair my fiberglass over wood boat and to make improvements. Can be used with the resin to coat bare wood to make a weather/water proof coating or with woven or chopped fiberglass to make a strong skin. Years of UV exposure will break it down so cover with carpeting or paint. The 'slow' hardener will give you plenty of working time before it hardens.
