West Marine Opens New Pensacola Flagship Store

Grand Opening Celebration February 19-22 will include tips from experts, electronics demos, door-buster deals, giveaways and raffles

WATSONVILLE, CA (Jan 19, 2015) - West Marine, one of the world’s largest waterlife retailers, announced the grand opening of its new flagship store in Pensacola, FL. Grand opening festivities kick off on Thursday, February 19 at 8 a.m. and go through Sunday, February 22. The parking lot will be transformed into a waterlife show, with boats and tips and tricks from experts. In-store events will include electronics demos, door-buster deals, giveaways and raffles. The new Pensacola store is located at 5303 North Davis Highway, Pensacola.

At 20,000 square feet, the store at this new location is the largest West Marine on the Gulf between Clearlake TX, to Jacksonville, FL. Nearly twice times the size of the previous location, it will serve the needs of everyone who loves spending time on or around the water. There will be a Fishing and Bait Shack with gear specifically selected for the region, a huge selection of marine electronics featuring over 100 units to touch and test, a new engine parts counter, a Stand-up Paddleboard and Kayak Showroom and an even wider selection of sailing gear. There will be a wide selection of men’s and women’s apparel, footwear and accessories with some of the top nautical brands including Helly Hansen, Grundens, Sperry Topsider and Tommy Bahama, plus a broad assortment of inflatable boats, kayaks and a variety of stand-up paddleboards (SUPs).

Pensacola West Marine General Manager Roz Clark says “the new Pensacola Flagship has an incredible water lifestyle feel to the store from the second you walk through the door. The Fishing Shack, engine parts counter and apparel and waterlife accessories create an amazing experience for our current and new customers alike.”

A UK native who has been with West Marine for eight years, Clark and her husband have a 42’ sailboat, a small sailing dinghy, a little skiff and a garage full of paddling boats. “The Pensacola area offers outstanding water lifestyle and recreation ranging from outstanding white sands beaches, paddling inshore and offshore, fishing and sailing,” Clark says. “We enjoy sailing, fishing, paddling and just exploring the Gulf and all four bays – Escambia, Pensacola, East and Perdido – plus into Santa Rosa Sound, Bayou Chico, Bayou Texar, inland lakes and rivers.”

West Marine Pensacola will be staffed with a team of over 20 associates with a wide expertise in boating and the local waters. Will Smith’s greatest fishing achievement – so far – has been catching an 800lb, 12’5” Tiger Shark from the beach. A former Miss Destin, Amanda Rolf has been the face of the annual Fishing Rodeo, now in its 66th year. Ronnie Rhea was a charter fishing captain before joining West Marine. When she isn’t having fun with customers at West Marine, Emily Price works in water conservations for the US Parks Service. Wick Wickham retired from the US Navy and has been a commander of the Pensacola Sail and Power Squadron. Ryan Boudreaux is an active offshore sailor. Together the team has more than 300 years of experience and has cruised thousands of nautical miles.
