Hinged shank delivers superior holding and setting performance in the worst conditions.

An anchor whose initials are an acronym for "Secure," the CQR™ is a favorite among bluewater cruisers for its strength and performance in a wide range of bottom conditions. The plow shaped design provides excellent penetration and holding power in sand, weeds, rocks and mud. The hinged shank prevents break-out during wind shifts. A trip line can be attached to an eye cast into the horn to make desired break-outs easier when retrieving the anchor.  Drop-forged steel construction provides increased strength and reliablility under load– a genuine CQR™ anchor will not break. Hot-dipped galvanized finish offers added corrosion resistance. The combination of the tapered shank and unique hinged plow make for trouble-free anchor roller stowage. Feel secure and rest peacefully in a wide range of conditions with a genuine CQR™ anchor.

Been using a CQR since 1983 verypleased

There are better specialized anchors for specific bottoms, but for overall use, nothing as good as a CQR. Been using one since 1983, dragged once in all that time, and it reset itself then. Do not trust the knockoffs. They do not work..don't know why, but the original is excellent. Changing di...

Museum piece

These were the most popular anchors when we didn't know any better. They are great in deep mud but so is a concrete block with a rope through it. Lots of better anchors available.

Comments about Lewmar 105lb. CQR Anchor

25 years ago I was anchored in Horseshoe Bend on the St Marys River east of DC with a Tayana 37 and a 35 lb CQR anchor. Two thunderstorms merged over DC and the wind went form a light breeze from the east to 85 knots out of the west in what seemed like seconds. The wind change drove the boat over the anchor and turned it on its side, with the right spreader in the water, as we turned into the wind. The anchor never came loose. I am not sure what type anchors they had, but several sail and power boats originally anchored near me were beached.

Comments about 45lb. CQR Anchor by Lewmar | Boat Deck & Covers at West Marine

Swiveling shovel allows it to fit in my anchor locker when not in use. Set strong and held fast in 25 knot winds. Long shank keeps it from swinging back into the bow. Love it!

Comments about 35lb. CQR Anchor by Lewmar | Boat Deck & Covers at West Marine

two nights ago moored at Rose Island Bahamas. 25kt wind. loads of current anchored in sand. In the morning we pulled the anchor - 80 feet of chain. The anchor was well grounded, we road up on the chain freeing it. When we pulled in aboard the shaft was BENT. 110 lbs of custom stainless. Kid you not. BENT. And the the bow fitting weld parted from the strain of the pull forward. Off the find another CQR because we believe in them. Used them for years.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Comments about CQR Anchor

This anchor has been extremely reliable. Works very well under all conditions that I have had it in. I have the 35 lb on a 37 ft sailboat. I can't imagine anything that would make it much better.
