I purchased this because I wanted more than a depth sounder for my sailboat. I use it as a way of tracking depth, points of interest, and to track navigation in unfamiliar territory. Transducer is mounted inside the hull with toilet ring wax (solid fiberglass hull) and works as it should.

Seems sturdy, works very well. Wish there were options for different transducer that didn't cost more than the unit itself. I've had several Garmin products die because one button failed. I hope this one lasts.

Be careful!
This product is really a fish finder only. While the box says "GPS" it does not have any mapping or GPS data. It just shows a triangle for your location on a yellow screen with no land, depth contours or anything else that would help you establish your location or navigate. I now have holes in my dash from a product which is of no use to me.
