Happy with the unit

I bought this unit about a month ago for a small fishing boat I use on the river. It is easy to use and reliable. I have had an issue with the down imaging and sonar being noisy, but I am hoping that I can fix this by leveling the transducer better on the boat. I am not a fan of the automatic side i...

Unit ok? Instructions horrible!!

I bought this product because it said "how easy" to use. I am NOT a computer expert and cannot get it to do anything but the very basic functions. Entered waypoints but cannot figure out how to find the list or anything else to do with them. I downloaded your MAUAL from the internet and it is about...

Bought the hook2 7 tripleshot for my kayak about 1 1/2 years ago. Works good when it does. Gives me a lot of problems, doesn't always auto set the depth so I have to restart it every now n then. Recently it gave me a no transducer found and then all orange screen. Looked for pinches and bends but everything looks fine.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Mark5xpro vs 7xTS

I ran both side by side. The Mark5xpro Was more sensitive, picked up more detail with 83khz setting. The 7xTS really is just a colour screen. Doesn't show better detail. Downscan and side scan were useless. No GPS map makes it useless. A complete waste of money. Oh it did tell me my speed. Wooo hooo!

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Q
I currently have Hook 5 (not Hook2) on a smaller boat I use for fishing. I am thinking of the Hook2 7 for a larger boat that has inboards. I read that it is possible to place the transducer that comes with the unit in a place that will not have too much disturbance for the unit to work properly. My concern at this point is the types of maps that are in the unit. The maps that come pre-loaded in in the old Hook5 are sufficient for my purposes. Does the Hook2 7 have the same maps pre-loaded?
Asked by Jim
Verified Reply - RyanYes, you can install the transducer in an area where turbulent water is not present and it should work as expect. No, this unit does not come with pre-loaded maps since it is not considered a chartplotter. Was this answer helpful to you

Mounting the transducer to a trolling motor
Asked by Victor
Verified Reply - MaureenPer the vendor: "Model # 18799544 is the Hook2-7x with TripleShot transducer, unfortunately, we don't have a solution for mounting the TripleShot transducer to a trolling motor. The Hook2-7x with SplitShot (Model # 18799536) comes with the SplitShot transducer which can be mounted on a trolling motor. The difference between the two is that the TripleShot has side imaging and the SplitShot is just down imaging.": https://www.westmarine.com/buy/lowrance--hook-7x-fishfinder-gps-with-splitshot-transducer--18799536Was this answer helpful to you

Q
Is a mounted through the hull transducer available? I didn't think a transom mounted will work on an inboard boat.
Asked by Walt
Verified Reply - West Marine Customer ServiceUnfortunately no, there currently is not a thru-hull transducer available for this unit. It is possible for the TripleShot transducer to work with an inboard engine boat. The transducer would need to be mounted in a location where the inboard won't cause turbulent water with lots of air to run under it. If the TripleShot transducer is in a smooth flow of water it should read properly. Was this answer helpful to you
